What is the Internet Essentials Program (IEP)?

Internet Essentials is a program sponsored by PA Health and Wellness (PHW) to provide affordable home Internet, up to 75 Mbps, for qualifying households through Comcast Xfinity.

Who is eligible for the Internet Essentials Program?

You may be eligible if you are an active PA Health and Wellness Community HealthChoices Home and Community Based Services participant and live in an area where Comcast Xfinity Internet service is available.

How would I enroll and get started?

You can get started with the IEP program by contacting the PA Health and Wellness (PHW) call center at 1-844-626-6813 TTY: 711 to obtain the promotion code needed for the enrollment process.

To enroll you will need to apply online or via phone with Comcast Xfinity. See below.

  • Online: Families can apply online from a mobile device at Apply.InternetEssentials.com
  • Over the phone: 1-844-963-0178

You will need the following information to apply:

  • Home address
  • Name, email address, and telephone number
  • Promo code supplied by PA Health and Wellness to ensure the billing is handled correctly, and the participant is not billed.
  • NO credit card is needed and NO credit check.

What if I am currently a comcast member?

You still qualify for the program. You will need to have your information validated via PA Health and Wellness (PHW) contact center. Current customers must call the number 1-844-963-0178 to sign up after receiving their promo code from the PA Health and Wellness call center. Details about how this will impact their current service will be provided over the phone.

Is there a cost for the program?

There is no cost to current active PA Health and Wellness (PHW) Home and Community Based Services participants.

How does the set-up work?

After calling Comcast to complete enrollment, you will receive information from Comcast Xfinity regarding self-installation.

What happens if I leave PHW?

If you disenroll from PA Health and Wellness (PHW) then you will assume the cost and billing for the services. If you wish to discontinue the entire service, you will need to call Comcast Xfinity at 1-800-266-2278.

What if I am having a technical issue with the internet?

You will need to contact Comcast Xfinity directly about any technical issues with set up or service. The health plan does not address technical issues.
